humidifier

Love this humidifier! So quiet I can't even hear it running, yet it really humidifies the air. The only drawback is that it doesn't hold more than one nights water in the tank (one tank if on high, or half tank if on low setting).
smaller than HWM 2030 but same idea

I give this 4 stars, simply because for a few bucks more you can get the Honeywell HWM 2030 with variable humidity control (this only has high/low) and 3 gallon capacity (this has 2 gal.). However I opted to buy this one because I wanted something a little smaller and easier to lug around. I am DELIGHTED with it. Very quiet, very effective. In the past we've owned cool mist humidifiers which were a pain to clean and needed filters and/or bacteria-killing additives. Warm mist is definitely the way to go, and the Honeywell product line, based on my limited experience plus all the other reviews, seems like the best bet to me. I'm breathing better already.
Almost perfect

If only this machine had a larger reservoir, it would be perfect. As it is, it is very satisfacroty for a small room. It has no moving parts other than a valve, does not need frequent cleaning, and provides essentially sterile mist which is especially beneficial during winter months. One minor drawback is that it does gurgle quite loudly and that takes getting used to. When on high, it gobbles up the water and needs to be refilled three or four times a day, and will barely make it through a night. But on low, it easily provides enough moisture for a small room. I have two, one for the East Coast and one for the West. They will probably last forever.
Cheap and Effective

The Honeywell enviracaire HWM910 is the same as the Duracraft DWM250. These humidifiers are cheap and effectively humidify a single room. They are a good way to keep your throat and sinuses from drying out at night. Thanks to a well designed screw-bottom seal, they are one of the easiest humidifiers to refill. The parts are solid enough to last years with proper maintenance. However, the units are cheap enough to toss and replace if your heating element goes after you've let 1/4 inch of sediment calcify.
On the high setting, the HWM910 will run through the night while you sleep without running out of water. If you want to keep it running all day, you will have to fill it two and a half times and that will provide the air with 2 1/2 gallons of water moisture. Each tank you fill is 1 gallon of water. You can use distilled water to reduce sediment buildup but it is more economical to use tap water and clean the unit once a week with vinegar and a toothbrush. Cleaning is the most annoying thing about this filter. Mold will grow if you do not clean this unit once a week as well. There are several parts to clean, though the tank usually does not get moldy because the water inside it doesn't get warm. If you run the unit continuously, you may find you need to clean out mold less often and sediment more often. Ideally, you should let the unit run dry or empty it between uses. |
Great, but doesn't run long

Like most reviewers, I don't know where the capacity figures presented came from. On the high setting the full tank is empty in a matter of a few hours, and on low, it only makes it about 8 before I need to refill. That being said, it does a great job of putting moisture into the air in the bedroom I have it in and it is very easy to clean. The light produced is very soft and doesn't distrub my sleep or hurt my eyes. This really helped while I was sick and also made the room feel warmer with the heat turned on very low at night. I'd recommend as long as you don't mind having to refill it a lot more often than the description suggests.
